Grrrrhumph!

What a frustrating day, trying to knit some fingerless mitts.   Got a great Pattern from Ravelry by Ysolda Teague for some garter stitch fingerless gloves to go with my slightly adapted Bow Knot Scarf by Katherine Burgess (link if you would like to obtain the pattern:  Bow Knit Scarf).       I have got some great Noro Garden Silk - colour 224, in my stash (purchased when I had some money and no project in mind and never got round to using it)   Thought it was about time I used it.
So finished the scarf and started on the fingerless mitts - I know my knitting limitations, but thought, 'garter stitch, short rows on 2 needles - piece of cake :o)'.     1st attempt - no thumb hole / 2nd attempt - missed out section 2 and went straight to section 3 / 3rd attempt - two thumb holes.   Maybe I have been too confident and need to take much more time interpreting the pattern.

Part of me thinks - what a wasted use of spare time (don't have very much of that), other parts of me think - got to watch Episode 3 of S09 of Bones and this has been a necessary learning curve in my knitting development.  Am going to try again - hope I can add a picture of the finished item soon.    Work tomorrow - need to get and early night, my ironing done and my stuff together - no rest for the broke ;O)
